Calangute Travel Guide

Calangute Overview

The most commercial of the Goan beachs, Calangute Beach is a tourist Mecca for Indian and northern European travelers alike. Located in the north of Goa, just a few Km south of Baga Beach, CalanguteBeach is a destination for those seeking a busy beach with water activities and party scene. Discovered by the hippies in the 1960’s, Calangute has seen its fair share of changes. Once a destination for freaks seeking alternative open air music shows, now is as mainstream as they come.

Being one of the more popular beach resorts in India, beach beds and umbrellas dominate the beach, while boats pulling inflatable bananas race through the water. Throw in a bunch of jet-skis and paragliding and you have the essence of Calangute beach. Backing the beach you’ll find beach shack after beach shack serving up local food and drink.
Calangute Transport
Public transport links can be found in Calangute with bus lines from Arambol, Mapusa and Panjim. Calangute is small enough to cover on foot but you may want to rent a car, motorcycle or scooter to get you from town to town. Rentals can be arranged by any of the beach huts lining the beach.  Visitors who like CalanguteBeach generally enjoy Colva Beach with its similar vibe. Colva Beach is located on the Central Coast of Goa.
Photos of Calangute can be seen on the Photos Tab of this Travel Guide.
