Canasvieiras is located in the north of Santa Catarina Island about halfway between Jurere and Praia Brava. It’s one of the most cosmopolitan locations on Santa Catarina Island and the primer destination for Argentinean tourists. There are so many Argentineans here during the summer months they say the official language in Portunhol –a mixture of Spanish and Portuguese. During the off-season, Canasvieiras is just a sleepy town, but in the summer the nightlife is bumping as crowds of young people flock to the local bars and clubs. The scene in Canasvieiras has more of an Argentinean feel to it than Brazilian. You will also see more families and family friendly restaurants and facilities.
The village of Canasvieiras is a self-contained miniature city. It has several hotels, restaurants, a 24-hour supermarket, car rentals, banks and a post office. With all the cheap souvenir shops, the vibe at Canasvieiras is definitely touristy.
Although Canasvieiras may lack local flavor, its location is excellent, providing easy access to several popular beaches including Praia de Jurerê, Praia Lagoinha, Praia Brava and Praia Ingleses.

Praia Canasvieiras
The beach at Canasvieiras is one of the oldest on the island and has a history of being a location for health resorts since the early 1900’s. The warm water and calm waves make this beach ideal for swimming. The beach is just over 1 mile long, but at high tide the beach becomes very narrow.
Canasvieiras Nightlife
In the summer months there are several bars and clubs that are open all night. They are all located one block off the beach. It’s an excellent opportunity to mingle with Argentineans while remaining in Brazil.
