Lagoa da Conceicao Travel Guide

Lagoa da Conceicao Overview

Lagoa da Conceicao, Florianopolis (Portuguese: Lagoa da conceição) is a small town located on the eastern side of Ilha de Santa Catarina, Brazil. It’s situated on a sandbar that divides the two sides of the lagoon and is a popular tourist destination due to its unique ecology, Azorean culture, and ample water activities. Although a small town, Lagoa da Conceicao (known simply as Lagoa by the locals), packs a fairly large punch. Lagoa offers an array of international restaurants, from sushi to Thai to American style food, and is a popular nightlife destination. Lagoa da Conceicao is the main town on the east side of Florianopolis and is in easy striking distance of some of Floripa’s most popular beaches.

Expect lots of traffic in the high season, as Loga becomes a traffic bottleneck for people heading to and from the east coast beaches from other parts of the island. The roads and infrastructure of this part of the island were not designed for mass tourism and you definitely pay the price if driving a car in this area. If you’re staying in Lagoa or just spending the day you might want to consider renting a bicycle or motorcycle to get around.

The vibe in Loga is mostly a low-key and popular with surfers and bohemian types. Lagoa da Conceicao’s central location makes it a popular choice for accommodation. Its easy access to Centro and east coast beaches such as Barra da Lagoa, Praia Mole and Praia da Joaquina, along with plenty of nightlife activities makes this a wise choice for those most interested in east coast beaches, surfing and the more bohemian way of life.   If you’re more into the Jurere International scene, we recommend staying in Centro Florianopolis or in the northern part of the island.

Distance from Centro: 2 Km / 7 miles
