Margao Overview

Dirty, chaotic, and one of the oldest cities in Goa, Margao is also the administrative center of South Goa.  Margo is the second largest city in Goa, with only the capital, Panjim, being larger.


Margoa serves as an important transportation hub with service to Colva, Benaulim and Palolem to the south and Panjim to the north.  Long distance connections to Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore can also be made in Margao.


Margo also serves as a supply center for those visiting Goa.  Anything and everything can be found in Margao – it’s just a matter of going through the shops and stores.  An abundance of stores can be found in the city center.  Banks, ATM’s, cell phone stores cnl also be found in the city center. 

Things to do in Margao

Margao Municipal  Garden – located in the center of the city, this little oasis offers up lush greenery and colorful flowers.


Holy Spirit Church – located just off the city center, the Holy Spirit Church reveals the Portuguese influence on the region.


Visit nearby beaches:

Colva Beach – popular with Indian tourist, offers jet skies, parasailing and various other water actives.

Benaulim Beach – just south of Colva, and popular with visitors from the UK an Russia.

Varca Beach – Located a few Km to the south, a bit more secluded and beautiful.

Cavelossim Beach – popular beach with people visiting from the UK.

Mabor Beach – Beautiful and very popular with people visiting from the UK and Russia.
