Overview : I live in New York and I always recommend people visit in the spring or fall when it’s not blistering hot and humid or frigidly cold. In the summer many New Yorkers go away for the weekends, either on vacation, down the shore or to the Hamptons. So spring and fall are really the best times to visit if you want to understand the city.
Things to see and do : Besides the usually tourist stuff you probably already know about, I recommend a few tours. First, the Murder Suicide tour – this is a tour of all the famous murders and suicides in NY (You’re driven around this 2 hour tour in a hearse). That’s pretty cool. Contact: Crypt Keeper Tours, 91 7th Ave, 212.679.9777.

Go to a gospel service in Harlem. Harlem Spirituals, 690 8th Ave, 212. 391.0900 (http://www.harlemspirituals.com/) Helicopter Tour: Liberty Helicopter Tours, W 30th St at 12 Ave. (http://www.libertyhelicopters.com/)
